Self-hosted software license manager for the products you sell

AnyLicense is a self-hosted software license manager for commercial products. Create license keys, manage customer activations, define entitlements, and deliver protected updates—without rebuilding the same licensing system for every product.

Run it on infrastructure you control, then connect WordPress plugins, themes, desktop software, or other applications through the appropriate integration, SDK, or REST API.

One licensing layer. Multiple products.

🔑 Licenses & activations

Issue licenses, track installations, handle activation limits, and manage expiry, revocation, and device or site changes from one control plane.

🛡️ Entitlements & access

Define product-specific features, seats, and limits. Signed entitlements help connected clients verify what a customer is allowed to use.

🔄 Releases & updates

Publish versioned releases, authorize update checks, and provide authenticated package downloads instead of maintaining separate update services.

🔌 APIs & integrations

Connect with REST APIs, webhooks, and SDK source packages for TypeScript/Node, Python, and Go. Use the guided WordPress integration for supported plugins and themes.

How AnyLicense works

  1. Deploy your server. Install AnyLicense on compatible PHP/MySQL shared hosting or use the supported Docker/VPS deployment profile.
  2. Add your products. Create product records, license rules, and the entitlements that govern customer access.
  3. Connect your software. Integrate a WordPress plugin or theme through the product workflow, or use an SDK or API in another application.
  4. Manage the lifecycle. Issue and verify licenses, review activations, and publish approved releases from the same workspace.

Built for real software licensing workflows

License validation is only one part of selling software. AnyLicense also supports the operational tasks that follow a purchase:

  • Installation and activation tracking with binding, rebind, and deactivation flows.
  • License policies including seats, device limits, lifecycle state, and signed offline authorization with bounded grace.
  • Secure software delivery with release metadata and authenticated downloads.
  • Commercial connections including Envato purchase verification and sales-driven license issuance through supported integrations.
  • Developer operations with API keys, webhooks, organization access controls, and audit records.

WordPress-ready. Not WordPress-limited.

For WordPress plugin and theme developers, AnyLicense provides a guided path for source analysis, licensing integration, customer license screens, package builds, and updater wiring. The workflow reduces the amount of licensing code that must be maintained separately inside each product.

The platform itself is product-neutral. Applications outside WordPress can connect through its licensing API and the supplied TypeScript/Node, Python, or Go SDK source packages. SDK availability does not mean automatic packaging for every software framework.

Own your licensing infrastructure

AnyLicense is self-hosted software, not a managed licensing subscription. Your team operates the installation, database, domain, and deployment environment. The commercial installation entitlement is separate from the customer licenses your server issues; an interruption to the vendor update service does not automatically disable those existing customer licenses.

Hosting requirements

  • Shared hosting: PHP 8.2+, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP CLI and cron, HTTPS, required PHP extensions, and a document root safely mapped to public/.
  • Docker/VPS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Docker Engine, Docker Compose v2, HTTPS, and a reverse proxy.

The shared-hosting profile uses a scheduled worker. Some isolated WordPress runtime-verification features require the Docker profile. Hosting, configuration, and ongoing server operations are the buyer’s responsibility. Not sure whether your server is compatible? Contact TopHive before purchasing.
